Dear Greater Austin Community, it is with great honor that we invite you to our 2019 Hispanic Austin Leadership (HAL) Graduation, sponsored by the GAHCC Foundation and Texas Mutual Insurance Company. The prestigious Hispanic Austin Leadership Program has been named as 1 of the top 7 Hispanic Leadership Programs in the USA and generates a multi-million dollar economic impact to our community! HAL has been featured on Univision, Educa Austin, AA Statesman, Giving City Austin, Austin Woman Magazine, and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The HAL Graduation is an event where the entire community unites to celebrate Austin's top leaders and the exceptional work that they are doing in the community. At HAL Graduation, we celebrate our 28 graduates' completion of our 9-month Hispanic Austin Leadership Program. The evening begins with a poster session and table display of all 5 Community Impact Projects. Guests walk around to the table displays, network, and enjoy food and drinks. Afterwards, the program, project presentations, and graduation ceremony commence. Hispanic Austin Leadership's Mission is to provide business leaders and professionals the opportunities to develop business acumen, civic awareness, leadership skills, and a network of colleagues for life.
We invite you this one-of-a-kind opportunity to streamline all of the great programs and initiatives being done to advance the Hispanic Community and the Greater Austin Community overall. By attending this event, you will also have the incredible opportunity to network with elected officials, corporate, government, and non-profit leaders. We will all leave the event with new contacts to help us in our community aspirations, a greater understanding of the work being done to tackle our most challenging issues, and a more united, harmonious community.
Hispanic Austin Leadership is a 9-month journey where participants develop an understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the Greater Austin community and figure out where they want to get involved. This intense self-discovery and reflection occurs through attending an opening retreat, 7 full-day sessions covering different topics (Education, Healthcare, etc.), Professional Development Training, and Community Impact Projects. Throughout the program, the HAL class has been called upon by the leadership in the community such as the Office of the Mayor, Austin Independent School District, and Austin Community College to share their expertise for the betterment of our region. The class has received professional development training by top practitioners in the region in Fundraising, Communication, and more. The HAL class is also divided into 5 teams where they are completing Community Impact Projects that encompass everything from creating HIV/AIDS prevention programming, to leading business vs. schools environmental sustainability challenges, and more. The HAL graduating class features a diverse range of participants from one who leads fraud and corruption investigations for Dell Latin America to another who is a lead Mechanical Engineer in the creation of chips for smartphones. Upon graduation, members of the class become a part of the Hispanic Austin Leadership Alumni organization, of which there are over 360 members.
