Diversity and inclusion is an economic imperative for today's society. Studies have shown that companies who understand these deeper implications know that recruiting, retaining, and promoting diverse talent makes the company smarter, more adaptive to changing consumer needs, and more competitive. In an effort to address the aspect of economic development, the Greater Austin Asian, Capital City African American and the Greater Austin Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Austin, will host a job fair to offer qualified minority and women-owned businesses the opportunity to network with Austin based employers.
The job fair will feature companies that have previously participated in the MECA Career Expo and other chamber members that are in the process of expanding their employee base.
Based on the research and recommendations, one of the main objectives for the career expo will be to provide educational workshops that develop quality employees by training desirable skill sets. The program will also include a training session related to international business. The more diverse companies there are in Austin, the more attractive it is for a potential employees/residents.
