Circular Economy Program - Austin Resource Recovery, City of Austin

About Us

The City of Austin Circular Economy Program (previously known as the Recycling Economic Development Program) is a partnership between Austin Resource Recovery and the Economic Development Department. The program, established in 2013, works to attract, retain and grow local businesses and non-profits interested in practicing sustainable or 'circular economy' principles within their organizations. The City of Austin Circular Economy Program provides resources and networking opportunities to interested businesses, non-profits and entrepreneurs in an effort to turn Central Texas into the most vibrant circular economy in the United States.

In order to make a circular economy work, local industries and businesses are encouraged to participate in sustainability practices such as creating materials that can be easily taken apart, recycled or composted, so that they can continue to be used in the economic ecosystem and are kept out of the landfill.
