Position Summary: The Volunteer Engagement Specialist provides continuous support of adult membership, alumnae engagement, volunteer services, and Girl Scout supporters, to meet the goals and objectives of the Council. This position focuses on coordinating and management of the GSCTX LinkedIn social capital, GSCTX Volunteer Corps., GSCTX Alumnae Committee, and Volunteer Support Services volunteer-focused events.
Recruit adult members, Girl Scout supporters, and alumnae to join the GSCTX Volunteer Corps. and applicable GSCTX committees.
Connect and place interested adult members, supporters, and alumnae with appropriate GSCTX departments, GSCTX committees, and GSCTX volunteer opportunities as applicable to engage them in the Girl Scout movement.
Develop a strategic ‘playbook’ for the recruitment and retention of adult members, supporters, and alumnae to join the GSCTX Volunteer Corps. and applicable committees’.
Become the subject matter expert for the GSUSA LinkedIn Sales Navigator tools and resources.
Utilize the GSUSA LinkedIn Network and the Girl Scout Network to identify and recruit Girl Scout supporters and alumnae to join the GSCTX Volunteer Corps. and applicable GSCTX committees supported by the Corps.
Serve as the key collaborator for Volunteer Support Services and Fund Development Departments.
Implement a tracking system to measure adult members, Girl Scout supporters, and alumnae recruitment and engagement outcomes within the Volunteer Corps.
Coordinate staff support volunteers for events and group-volunteer opportunities.
Support and manage the GSCTX Alumnae Committee through the Volunteer Corps. by recruiting and retaining active committee members, partnering with a volunteer committee chair to run the day-to-day operations of the committee, and maintaining the committee structure as defined within the department goals.
Provide timely and high-fidelity data regarding: recruitment, retention, placement, general surveys, and End-of-Year summary.

Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters at all times.
Provide exceptional customer service to staff, volunteers, and all individual and external stakeholders.
Maintain records, prepare reports, and support department goals & objectives.
Ensure Safety Activity Checkpoints and other risk and safety guidelines are adhered to at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Event Planning and Production: • Assist with negotiations for location contracts and booking event space, secure catering and beverage, order supplies, equipment and signage, and ensure appropriate décor to meet quality and brand expectations. • Conduct research, make site visits, and secure resources to enable staff to make decisions about event possibilities. • Create and revise room layouts for each event. • Propose new ideas to improve event planning and implementation process. • Serve as liaison to vendors and other external partners on event-related business. • Work with the Marketing and Communications Department to coordinate press events and to ensure messaging is time-lined and released to effectively promote events. • Assist with managing on-site production and cleanup of events. • Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, and seating cards
Develop attendee event and class schedule grid
Work with Data Information Department to prepare event online registration
Ensure each attendee has a personalized schedule (as warranted) and name tag
Secure items and assemble gift bags as needed
Work with the Retail Department to design and order patches
• Close out all events as required
Event Administration: • Assist with preparing budgets and progress reports. • Track event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. • Coordinate and calendar appointments and scheduling of events. • Manage and recruit volunteer-focused committees to plan events. • Document activities prior to and during events for internal and external communications.
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent directly related work experience.
Volunteer recruitment and management experience.
Conflict resolution and change management skills set.
Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally.
Excellent administrative, organizational, time management, communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.
Excellent business writing skills and experience preparing written materials.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various social media outlets.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to motivate volunteers.
Willingness to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Ability to travel throughout the Council.
Preference may be given to candidates with knowledge and experience in Girl Scouting.
10-15% of work time will require travel.
Membership in GSUSA is required.
A Criminal Background Check is required.
A Valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
Personal phone that may be used for work purposes if necessary.
