Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Univision’s DFW Local Media News Department is seeking a motivated, experienced, organized and
project-focused Photographer/Editor to join the #1 news team in North Texas. The ideal candidate must
love shooting and editing breaking news, daily news stories, special reports and sports stories. Our
photographer/editors work in a collaborative and supportive role with our news producers and reporters.
This position requires competency editing video using non-linear, computer based editing equipment and
an ability to edit material to match scripts prepared by reporters and producers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Shooting and editing assigned and breaking news stories using ENG camera and AVID non-
linear editing equipment, with or without reporter.

• Shoot and edit special reports and series as assigned.
• Ability to work both as a team and independently.
• Must have strong knowledge of advanced location lighting techniques. Tech savvy and up to date
on the most modern aspects of our medium.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
• Provide pictures and short/snap videos from the field for our Social Media platforms

• Understanding of social media strategies and ability to contribute behind-the-scenes and story-
process-development content to our social media accounts and website.

• Set up and operate microwave ENG trucks, as well as LiveU streaming equipment.
• Ability to drive and handle all necessary equipment on a news live truck.
• Be able to work various shifts and times as well as during inclement weather.
• Assist video editor in editing and preparing video for newscasts as assigned using server-based
editing and playback system.
• Be the main in house news editor for the weekend newscast.
• Assist in operation of teleprompter or robotic cameras during newscasts.
• Valid Texas Driver’s license with clean driving record, as driving a news vehicle daily to and from
stories is an essential part of the daily routine.
• Operate and maintain news vehicles and equipment in a safe and professional manner.
• Perform routine maintenance and light troubleshooting on equipment.
• Assist with news production and assignment desk as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 2-3 years experience as news photographer in television news operation or similar
environment is preferred.

• Personal computer experience required including non-linear editing (Avid).

• Candidate must be able to multi-task, communicate effectively, be self-motivated, well-
organized and have excellent interpersonal skills.

• Must be able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Must have and maintain a good driving record.
• Storytelling and problem solving skills.
• Ability to creatively shoot both short and long form packages as assigned.
REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree/certificate in Broadcast News, Film or Television Production
• Fluent in both English and Spanish
• Ability to work well under extreme deadlines and multi-task in order to excel in fast-paced
deadline driven environment
• Highly organized, critical-thinker
• High regard for details
• Ability to prioritize, self-start and meet tight deadlines
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift and carry broadcast video equipment (approximately 45 pounds).
• Must be able to drive a vehicle.
• Must possess vision and hearing acuity, clear and audible speech.
• Manual dexterity in use of keyboard, videotape machines, cameras and other broadcast
equipment required.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to work in outdoor and inclement weather conditions.

• Must be willing to work at the UCI office in Dallas, Tx
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Must be willing to travel on an as needed basis
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
