Executive Producer

POSITION SUMMARY

Univision’s DFW Local Media News Department is seeking a motivated, experienced, organized and
project-focused Executive Producer to join the #1 news team in North Texas. The ideal candidate must
love breaking news and undertand how to best reach audiences across platforms. The position provides
editorial direction, leadership, motivation, support and encouragement to staff as they generate and
develop story ideas, produce compelling content and executes the News Director’s philosophy and
policies. The applicant will be a driver of change in the newsroom, analyzing and applying proven
strategies in order to leverage reach on existing and future platforms. The Executive Producer works
closely with other Univision entities to create cross-platform opportunities for a trusted and award-winning
news brand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Executing newsroom philosophy and policies, vision and direction
      • Leads editorial meetings and manages the daily flow of content to the station’s platforms
      • Develops and plans yearly coverage priorities for all Univision Dallas platforms
      • Works with news management to develop and execute sweeps content for key television rating
        periods
      • Reviews & critiques newscast production
      • Understands and monitors audience performance on linear and non-linear platforms. Must have
        strong understanding of Nielsen ratings and responds to the importance of maintaining/growing
        those ratings especially during critical sweeps periods
      • Other duties assigned and/or deemed necessary

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

      • Five years experience in television news, working as a news director, assistant news director,
        executive producer, news producer
      • Must have experience overseeing daily and breaking news events; ability to focus on news
        stories and their development – ensuring the content informs and highlights big issues affecting
        the Spanish speaking community
      • Experience developing and launching new newscasts
      • Knowledge and understanding of Nielsen rating system and rundown meter management
      • College degree required, but will consider commensurate experience if all other qualifications are
        met

REQUIRED BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Undergraduate degree in Broadcast News or Journalism
      • Fluent in both English and Spanish, including high proficiency in written Spanish
      • Ability to work well under extreme deadlines and multi-task in order to excel in fast-paced
        deadline driven environment
      • Highly organized, critical-thinker
      • High regard for details
      • Ability to prioritize, self-start and meet tight deadlines
      • Ability to prioritize projects and motivate team members to execute
      • Proven track record of incorporating, sourcing and sharing social media to tell stories and share
        with larger audience
      • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand, walk, and sit for up to (8) hours.

Eligibility Requirements
     • Must be willing to work at the UCI office in Dallas, Tx
     • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
     • Must be willing to travel on an as needed basis
     • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
