DRIVER’S LICENSE
City vehicle requirement & AOA requirement: This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver’s license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted. Applicants for positions for which City driving is an essential function must meet the standards of the program: age 18 or older, current applicable driver’s license, proof of insurability, and no more than six (6) points assessed on Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) based on Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver Record Report. This position falls under the COA safe driver program requirements. ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL
This position is categorized as an Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Exposure to electrical, explosive, biological and dust mite’s hazards. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, crawling, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, climbing and stepping up. Able to work outdoors for prolong periods of time, exposed to high heat temperatures, cold, and aircraft noise. Continuous manual and fingers dexterity. Continuous carrying or lifting items from 1 – 50 lbs. Occasional lifting and carrying items from 51 – 70 lbs. Occasional lifting and carrying items from 71 – 100 lbs. + (with assistance). Frequent reaching above shoulder level. Continuous pulling and pushing items from 1 – 20 lbs. Occasional pulling and pushing items from 51 – 100 lbs. + (with assistance). Operate a variety of types of gasoline and diesel equipment, light & heavy. Occasional indoor activity (working in the Tug Tunnel – but performing the same duties as listed above). Must possess the physical and mental capacity to safely operate a motor vehicle during day or night time. Close and far vision to perform detail work, reading plans, materials instructions, etc.

VETERAN
Veteran candidates will be required to provide a copy of their DD214 at the time of interview.

WORK HOURS
Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work (include the work hours and add supplemental question regarding work hours).

SHIFT INCENTIVE
Shift work (to include shift differential incentive with evening/night shifts).

Pay Range

$15.55 – $19.35

Hours

Sunday thru Wednesday 3:30pm to 2:00am or Wednesday thru Saturday 3:30pm to 2:00am.
Hours and/or days may vary depending on departmental needs. Shift work to include shift differential incentive with evening night shifts. Overtime may be required with or without notice.

Preferred Qualifications

3 Years of experience performing skilled carpentry and maintenance of a large commercial facility, to include working with metal stud construction, cabinet and counter-top fabrication, and mortise lock repair and installation.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1. Performs skilled Carpentry work in City-owned facilities
2. Operates and maintains various power and hand tools 
3. Installs, repairs, rebuilds, fabricates, replaces City facility structures and amenities 
4. Reads blueprints, specifications and building codes.
5. Records data 
6. Measures using appropriate instruments
7. Measures/mixes ingredients
