Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • One (1) year experience related to janitorial or grounds keeping services.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • If assigned to operate vehicles, must possess the appropriate Texas Driver’s License for those vehicles.
Notes to Applicants

This is a temporary position with no benefits.

This position will perform custodial services for the airport campus to include cleaning, mopping, sweeping, dusting, etc. and operating heavy duty equipment.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL
This position is categorized as “Essential Personnel”. Essential personnel are requested to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not.

CHBC
This position requires a minimum 10 year criminal history background check and security threat assessment.

LANGUAGE 
Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak English.

OVERTIME
Overtime may be required with or without notice.

WORK HOURS
Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work

SHIFT INCENTIVE
Shift work (to include shift differential incentive with evening/night shifts). Days and hours may vary to include weekends and holidays.

A written janitorial skills assessment will be administered as a part of this hiring process.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform the following physical requirements with or without accommodation: Moderate frequency of carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs. including but not limited to trash, luggage, supplies, propane tanks or other custodial equipment (Seldom: 51 – 75 lbs. with assistance). Moderate to high frequency pushing or pulling items weighing up to 50 lbs. including trash, supplies, equipment or luggage (Seldom: 51 – 75 lbs. with assistance. Moderate to high frequency climbing into or onto, including, but not limited to, stairs, ladders,equipment, or vehicles. Moderate frequency of sitting to operate equipment or in an office/classroom setting. High frequency of standing continuously on different surfaces while working or moving between work tasks, including, but not limited to, carpeted floors, tile floors, cement floors, etc. Moderately high frequency of kneeling or bending the knees to perform work tasks, including; cleaning, site preparation, climbing into vehicles or onto equipment, ladder use, etc. High frequency of walking for extended periods of time during the work shift while performing work tasks. Ability to squat while performing cleaning functions and use of equipment. Moderately high frequency of bending / stooping to clean or lift items, including but not limited to, cleaning under fixtures or furniture or equipment to picking up items, such as trash. Moderately high frequency of reaching forward, sideways and above shoulder level to place or remove supplies, clean, dust, wipe or vacuum. High frequency of finger dexterity and manual dexterity while performing work tasks, including, but not limited to, placing supplies, cleaning such as dusting or wiping or vacuuming. High frequency of utilizing sight and hearing to perform work tasks, including but not limited to, understanding oral communications via radio or public address systems, reading job instructions, proper chemical preparation and use, operation of equipment & security needs. Moderate frequency of working outdoors for the duration of a shift, under severe weather conditions, including but not limited to; heat, wind, rain, snow, cold, dust, glare, car fumes, and aircraft noise. Ability to communicate and comprehend instructions during the work day and in emergency situations, including but not limited to, radio communications, training, verbal or written communications. Must possess the physical and mental capacity to perform in a safe, efficient, and professional manner to include interaction with customers, co-workers etc., and operation of equipment, tools etc.
