The GAHCC education committee is pleased to announce its third annual “Start Up Superstars” entrepreneur competition. Entrepreneur speakers will speak at six AISD high schools, during the week of January 4, 2017, to encourage the students to attain higher education, to inspire them about entrepreneurship and then to invite them to participate in the competition. The speakers will then discuss different kinds of entrepreneur opportunities.
The Competition:
High School juniors and seniors will be invited to participate in a business “idea, plan and pitch” contest. They will be encouraged to come up with an idea for a new business or product, develop a business plan and then pitch the idea and plan to a panel of judges. The business idea/plan can range from taco stands to high tech to social entrepreneurship.
There will be GAHCC volunteers available to any participating students to assist with the creation of the business idea, plan and pitch. Students will be permitted to work solo or in a group of a maximum of three on their idea, business plan, and business pitch. There will be one (group) winner from each school and the winners will be awarded Chromebooks sponsored by Google! A grand prize winner (group) will be selected at the finals competition on March 9, 2017, which will be held at the Kleberg Theater, at the Zach Theatre and that grand prize winner will receive an education scholarship donated by the GAHCC Foundation!
